About GRIEB & BENZINGER
Handcrafted Watches & Unique Collector Timepieces
GRIEB & BENZINGER craft unique wristwatches based on exceptional historic movements. With its mostly historic special machinery, the workshop reminds of an industrial museum and the spirit of Abraham-Louis Breguet. Original movements with complications such as minute repeaters originally made by the greatest old masters of horology such as Patek Philippe built from around 1880 to 1920 are restored and modified here, using traditional handcraft from the old days when the historic movements have been built to create unique GRIEB & BENZINGER PLATNUM style timepieces on customer’s request.
Classic old watches are thus turned into new exclusive fine platinum masterpieces. Amongst other things, the conception is based on traditional – and nowadays very rare – techniques of craftsmanship for the finishing of the movements: skeletonising, engraving and guilloché by hand. There are no more than a handful of specialists world-wide to master this art of traditional handcraft today. Thus only a maximum of ten restored timepieces per year are created in this classic and explicitly time-consuming way, each single one of them a true unicum.
The BENZINGER BOUTIQUE Collection is the second line of the GRIEB & BENZINGER workshops. Georg Bartkowiak & Jochen Benzinger created this sub-brand to due to the tremendous demand for hand-made collector watches featuring the typical GRIEB & BENZINGER style & craftsmanship , however this collection is based on contemporary movements in order to offer this collector for moderate prices starting at 28.500 € in pink gold.
Jochen Benzinger is acknowledged as the leading specialist worldwide for hand-skeletonized timepieces and guilloché work. Watch movements are skeletonized, guilloché, hand-engraved, and even sometimes technically modified by hand in his workshop in a traditional manner using special historical machines and tools. With this collection the Benzinger brand shows it roots again as Masters of the Skeletonized Watch.
GRIEB & BENZINGER: annual production of no more than 10-12 Platinum watches, for 200.000€ - 400.000€ / piece
BENZINGER BOUTIQUE: annual production of no more than 100 gold watches, for 29.000 € - 40.000€ / piece
